Applications

 

 

It is especially suitable for whitening of PVC and polystyrene series products, and can also be used for whitening and brightening of other thermoplastics and coatings, printing ink, synthetic fiber.

Usage Precautions

1. Mix thoroughly with plastic pellets before the molding and processing of the product.

2. The specific dosage should be adjusted according to the whiteness requirement of the substrate and the product thickness.

3. For films or thin-layer products, the dosage should generally be on the lower side; for thick products or foamed products, the dosage can be appropriately increased.

4. It is recommended to conduct small-scale trials first to determine the optimal dosage before proceeding with mass production.

 

When to Choose Optical Brightener FP-127 vs. When to Choose Optical Brightener OB?

It cannot be simplistically said that one can completely replace the other. The best choice depends on specific application scenarios and performance requirements.

Prioritize FP-127 in the following cases ✅

FP-127 delivers particularly ideal whitening effects on specific plastics and artificial leather.

Whitening of PVC Products: If your products are primarily made of PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride), such as PVC soles, pipes, films, artificial leather, foam boards, etc., FP-127 is the first choice. It offers excellent whitening perfomance and compatibility with PVC, and its weather resistance is superior to OB-1 and in some cases, OB.

Pursuing Higher Initial Whiteness: If you want your products to have a very bright, white, and vivid appearance immediately after production, FP-127 provides higher instantaneous whiteness than OB.

Certain Weather Resistance Requirements: FP-127 has better weather resistance than OB-1 and can replace OB in some regions for products that require a certain level of lightfastness.

Retain the use of OB or other types in the following cases 

 

For PP, PE and other Polyolefin Plastics: Although FP-127 can be used in PP/PE, OB has better solubility and dispersibility in PE and PP, making it more common and classic in these applications.

For Coatings and Inks: OB has wide applications in paints, coatings, printing inks, and other fields. If FP-127 is to be used here, special specifications are typically required.

Extremely High Weather Resistance Requirements (e.g., long-term outdoor use): If your products need to withstand prolonged outdoor exposure to sun and rain, the weather resistance of OB (especially compared to KCB/KSN) may be insufficient. You should choose more weather-resistant types such as KCB or KSN.


Summary

Optical Brightener FP-127 is the "top performer" in PVC, PS, ABS, and artificial leather. It achieves higher initial whiteness and good weather resistance at a relatively lower cost, making it an excellent replacement for OB in these fields.

Optical Brightener OB is known for its broader applicability. It maintains a strong position, especially in polyolefin plastics, coatings, and inks, and under certain conditions, its weather resistance is superior to FP-127.
